Audacity rocks! Finally, a way to get away from the "time-limited save-to-MP3" feature in Nero. I hated that. Perhaps I didn't read the installation screens right (no big surprise there), but I could swear I hadn't seen any warnings / notifications that mentioned that the Save-to-MP3 feature was sorta shareware. Just when I was getting into the swing of things with a voice recording, too!
Anyway, Audacity's got all that, and more. The website says - "This release includes new features such as level meters, multi-file export, and lower latency for multi-track recording". When was the last time you heard all that in a feature set that cost less than $100? Apart from being free, Audacity's available for Windows, OS X and for Linux / UNIX as well.
A freeware sound editor that does some real sound editing (rather than the usual cut-splice-fader "features"), and that allows an unlimited save-to-MP3 feature - that itself is music to my ears! God bless all those who used their time, collective intellect, and collective goodness into making this a full-featured, fully-free product.
I could continue about how everyone seems to say "Dude, you've got waaay too much time on your hands..." until they see something "cool" come from the same person that they've been saying that to; but I won't. You know who you are.
