What We Think...

Answering the "Who?", "What?" and "Why?"...

So, who's "we"?

The average solid-state MP3 player is the new-age replacement for the WalkMan for a few. To others, its a way to move regular, non-music files from one place to another. To others, its a device on which they'll store a list of free wireless hotspots around their stomping ground so that they know where to go in case they're itching to IM. To others, its a challenge; as they figure out hidden features, hacks and bugs. For others, its a bookend and these folk usually say "Listen to music loud, stop spending so much time talking about MP3 players, and please get a life!". For others, the shade of color used for the outer case isn't right, the buttons are too hard, the interface is not intuitive and the USB cord is too short.

"We", are all of these, and more.

Different perspectives make for informed decisions. Informed decisions make for better returns on your investment. Does that make "us" a public service? You could call this site that if you'd like, but we really don't care for labels. Of course, if you can figure out a way to let us claim tax-exemptions because of our "charity work", I think you would have our undivided attention!

All in all, the intent of What We Think TM is to let us vent, which in turn lets you get corroborating and contrasting opinions from people with different thoughts on the same subject. As we see it, this sorta works out well for everyone. You get our perspective on everything from today's news to great deals to great food to new stuff in tech; and we get your ear (or, your eye, in this case - but "we get your eye" sounds kinda odd, doesn't it?). Hopefully, some of you will give us some good feedback about the way we wax eloquent. But that's optional. Think about it - the title of this site is "what we think". That sorta advertises how opinionated we are. And you know how opinionated people can be about contrasting opinions..

Jokes aside, "we" is me, Sujeet, and a few friends - both technophiles and those who "use technology rather than be a slave to it", as they would say. Almost all of these are people who've told me at some point or another that they've dozed off while reading through the technobabble I put up at Sujeet.Net. Gotta love 'em for keeping it real! However, while they may not be as passionate about everything in the paranoid world of information security as me, they're often awesome with their ability to deliver an astute summary. For example, me talking about a new device on the market that changes colors in tune with the weather outside elicited a similar response from almost everyone - "Why don't you look outside the window and pay me the $150 instead?".

Like I said, gotta love 'em for keeping it real...

All of us who contribute to this site are regular Joes and Josies much like most of you. We buy stuff we think we need, we return stuff we know we don't, we eat out, we eat in, we shop for bargains, we watch movies, we take pictures, we try to stick to workout plans, we pay (waayy too many) bills and we use the Internet for almost everything. More of the usual. Our lives are probably a lot less spectacular than the guy at the 7-11 working the graveyard shift. Perhaps all that's different is that we don't think normal is boring...

Sincerely,

Sujeet
